Why?

The world is just a little bit too safe. Gone are the days when the edge of the map called you forth to discover what lay beyond - satellite maps and GPS have it laid bare before you without you even needing to leave your armchair. What if you want things to go wrong? What if you want a bit of the unknown in a world full of Health and Safety measures? What if the words "adventure travel" conjure images of old ladies on a guided tour to the Everest base camp with all the danger and real adventure neatly removed?

We look at it and say

Why not?

If people can think of any reason why we shouldn’t be driving to Mongolia in a car that is so bad that the guy selling it gave it away to us, (it was cheaper than getting it towed apparently), then we'll instantly pack the whole thing in and spend the summer watching all the mighty British football teams scrap it out for European glory! Hmmm, there's something not quite right there.

Email your best reasons why not to drive a 50 year old banger 10,000 miles on dirt tracks, across deserts and mountain ranges to yourkiddingright@2008-mongol-rally.htm. Please start your reason "I recommend you don't drive across to Mongolia in that car because..."

We’ll publish the best ones on here!

Now seriously – we’re trying to make a whole bundle of cash for charity. Please have a look here to see who we’re supporting and how you can give! Please sponsor us by buying a mile on our 10,000 Mile Page or sponsor a panel on Martha, (the crap-heap), for your business!
